When was the last time you said, “Please,”
or “Thank you,” to a service worker? As
parents, we spend years training our children to mind
their manners when they are out in public. Yet, we’re
pretty bad role models for them. Next time you see
a custodian in the bathroom or a housekeeper in a
hotel hallway, stop and thank them. Don’t avert
your eyes or pick up your step. Take this chance meeting
as an opportunity to affirm the value of someone’s
daily work. Try saying, “May I please have an
extra towel?” or “Thank you so much for
making sure this bathroom is clean, it looks incredible
and makes a big difference to me.” Wouldn’t
you like someone to say that about your work?
| The great thing about
this list is that you can add anything you want to it. In fact, I’ve
put a little form below that I want you to come up with other ideas and
suggestions for our community of people. And, as an added bonus, if you
send me a picture of you with one of America’s 39 million hardworking
men or women, I’ll send you a FREE book to give to them. We’ll
post your names and pictures here in our Transformation Hall of Fame.
Thanks and good
luck!
