Ever see an adult behaving badly? I go through a lot
of airports, and this is one place where people are
always on their worst behavior. But it happens in
restaurants too. We all expect accuracy, but we’ve
lost the elusive quality of grace in our everyday
interactions with people. Grace is about giving people
something better than they deserve. If your shirts
have too much starch, don’t throw a tantrum.
What’s that going to do? Instead, treat people
who make mistakes with the same dignity and grace
that you’d treat your spouse or children. Tantrums
are for toddlers…give people better than a tantrum.
That’s all they get from angry customers anyway.
So when you come in and treat them like an equal,
you’ll get much farther.
| The great thing about
this list is that you can add anything you want to it. In fact, I’ve
put a little form below that I want you to come up with other ideas and
suggestions for our community of people. And, as an added bonus, if you
send me a picture of you with one of America’s 39 million hardworking
men or women, I’ll send you a FREE book to give to them. We’ll
post your names and pictures here in our Transformation Hall of Fame.
Thanks and good
luck!
